Hello,
I work for a multinational company with sites in N&S America , Europe and Australia.
We make use of WAN optimizers to compress and cache data (IPANEMA).
If I check the STAD transaction for a whole day, export all data and remove all entries which are:
- below 5000ms (5sec) of total transaction time
- above 1000ms (1sec) of DB usage
- above 1000ms (1sec) of CPU usage
- above 1000kb (1MB) of Transferred data
- Below 4 seconds of SAPGUI (WAN.LAN) time
This leaves us with all transactions which had a response time above 5 seconds, only due to WAN/LAN time.
For the sites we analyse the WAN lines are NOT congested, so bandwidth is available.
As these delays vary from 5 to 50 seconds, and happen from 30 to 200 times a day a site, this has a significant impact on the end user experience.
My questions is, is this normal behavior for a multi region environment?
Could it be that the WAN optimizers are influencing this ?
If we involve our WAN provider they just feedback their total throughput graphs, showing that there is no congestion. End of story for them.
I know this is a very specific topic, so please only respond in case you have relevant experience or adivse
thank you
Hans
